Holidays to Indonesia

I have been considering a holiday to Indonesia recently and I have been browsing the internet trying to find myself a reasonably priced flight. Fortunately, I have a friend to stay with in Jakarta.

One thing I am most concerned about is when is it going to be rainy season? Indonesia experiences only two seasons, dry and wet. Between October and February, is rainy season and March to September is dry season. During the wet season, you can have up to 15 days of rain which is definitely not what you want whilst you are on holiday.

Avoiding areas like the Caribbean during the hurricane season is also advisable, especially after seeing the after effects of Hurricane Katrina and other such atrocities.

Holidaying in the UK

If you are suffering because of the credit crunch you have probably holidayed in the UK this year. With places such as the Lake District, the Peak District and the Snowdonia National Park being so easily accessible for people of the North West it is no wonder that they have experienced an increase in visitors to these areas.

Popular Welsh resorts such as Abersoch were heaving this summer because it is so much cheaper to go camping than take a holiday to the Costa Del Sol or to the South of France.

The credit crunch hasn’t yet abided and no doubt next year, the resorts in England and Wales will benefit greatly as a result.

Choosing a wildlife holiday

There are numerous places throughout the world where you can go to watch some stunning wildlife. The majority of which is right on our doorstep. Europe boasts some of the most spectacular wildlife which you can experience firsthand.

Andalucia in Spain every summer has killer whales visiting their shores. You can take a boat trip to follow these beautiful creatures as they feed on the bluefin tuna in the Strait of Gibraltar. The sight is truly amazing. In addition, Spain has a variety of reptiles that can be spotted whilst enjoying some much needed sunshine.

If you fancy a trip up north, head to Iceland and take a peep at the Puffins at Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It has huge colonies of a favourite of different birds including geese and ducks and you might even spot the odd whale out at sea.

Visit Cuba

Cuba is one of the Caribbean least discovered islands, with very few tourists visiting there until a few years ago. Thankfully there are no annoying Americans cluttering up the unspoilt white sandy beaches and there are cocktails galore for you to sample.

Over the last ten years, the Cuban government have realised the potential of tourism for Cuba and the country has become popular with a select number of British tourists. Tourism brings in the most revenue to a country which is still under communist rule.

Havana boosts the traditional Cuban feel, with 1950s cars, Mojitos to blow your mind and music to shake your hips to. Towns outside of Havana such as Cienfuegos and Trinidad city are typically colonial towns, whilst the beach resort of Varadero offers long white sandy beaches with crystal clear waters for you to relax in. Visit the city of Santa Clara and see where Che Guevara is buried with his fellow comrades.

Weekend break to North Wales

If you are a fan of rolling hills, going walking, a bit of history and a good pub, why not try a weekend break to North Wales.

Snowdonia is one the biggest national parks in Britain and boosts some of the most spectacular walks and scenery. Mount Snowdonia itself has a number of different walks to cater to all types of ability. However, if you want to reach the top, you can get up there in three way. Firstly you can get the tram from Llanberis which talks approximately half an hour. You can walk either the Miners Trail or the Pyg Track. The Miners trail is slightly harder is better for more advanced walkers whereas the Pyg Track is more suited to seasoned walkers.

Once at the top, the view is mind blowing. Have a cup of coffee at the top and admire the scenery before deciding which route to take back down.

Canada at Christmas

Thinking of getting away from it all and fancy celebrating Christmas somewhere abroad this year? Why not consider Canada.

Canada has a great selection of ski and winter breaks on offer. In particular, the ski resorts of Lake Louise and Banff have much to offer if you are looking to get away during the festive period.

Lake Louise offers the most stunning scenery as well as some fantastic ski runs, including a glacier. If skiing isn’t you thinking, why not snow shoe around the lake or go for a ride on the Husky Dog sleigh which depart daily. The Chateau on Lake Louise offers spectacular views over the Lake at night time with the backdrop of the fir trees covered in snow make it look truly magical.

Sardinia

Sardinia is the newest fashionable destination for holiday makers this year. This could be due the fact that it is one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean boasting hundreds of white sandy beaches, hidden coves and fantastic scenery.

Celebrities such as Geri Halliwell have been spotted cavorting in Sardinia in Porto Cervo this summer, proving that it could be a rival to the nearby St Tropez.

Sardinia is the ideal place if you just want to get away from it all and holiday in a rustic, rural location near to a beautiful beach. The food is influenced by the ties it has to France and Italy, with a wide range of fresh fish on offer.

Singles Holidays

Most people would agree that a package holiday is great from time to time but it is never really much of an adventure. I have been looking recently at trip to see the Inca Trail in Peru. It looks amazing from the photographs that are scattered across the internet and the site from the top looks breathtaking.

One thing that did concern me that there are hardly any package holiday companies that provide for trips for singles. All of my friends are in long term relationships and prying them from their beloveds to trek up a mountain to see a historical site would be near impossible.

Then I discovered Exodus. They cater specifically for people who are travel on their own. They have a vast array of different trips that you can participate in without having to pay a singles supplement (which is what most holiday companies do!).

Cheap flights to Australia

Australia has seen a sudden increase in the number of tourists it has received since Emirates Airlines announced their £580 ticket to Perth recently. Flights are currently available from various airports across Britain.

Australia has always made a conscious effort to encourage visitors to the country. It relies upon the money spent by tourists whilst on holiday. Although luxury holidays have been considered a no-no by most tourists, Australia is still a country which appeals year after year.

It boasts warm weather throughout the year depending on where you are going and there isn’t a shortage of things to do whilst you’re there. Why not visit Sydney and go to the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Or venture into the outback and see the sights at Uluru.

Paris

September is a great month to visit Paris. It is still warm so there is no need to take your coat and thankfully the hordes of tourists from America have left.

When in Paris, there are so many sights to see you will wonder where to start. Of course the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral will be high on your list of things to do. But have you consider taking a wander around the Latin Quarter or sit in a cafe drinking coffee in Montmartre?

Montmartre is a hill to the north of central Paris in which a beautiful white church, the Basilica of the Sacre Coeur or the Church of the Sacred Heart sits. It is typically more French in this part of Paris and you will find artists and painters on each street corner. There are some fantastic patisseries and boulangeries where the pastries, cakes and desserts are divine.
