Take Business Cards on Holiday

People see holidays as way to get away from business, relax on a beach or around a swimming pool sipping sangria in the sun. For may of us, that is exactly what holidays are all about without a thought about our jobs or businesses back home in rainy England. However, a holiday is a great opportunity to do some business networking, sounds like hard but not at all.

Holidays are a great way to meet new people and make new friends, common conversation is about a persons career a business. This leaves an ideal opportunity, even after a few sangria’s, to plant a seed about what you do and how you can help the person in their business, either make or save them money. Drop the person some business cards and carry on the conversation in which ever direction it goes, don’t be too pushy about your business because that will become off putting.

If you’ve been on holiday before you can probably remember the friends you made, well once this person gets back to work and their telling the colleagues or business partners how great it was and about the people they met, it may just crop up in there mind just how you can help and as you’ve built and friendship and TRUST they are likely to give you call.

Drawbacks of Camping

So previously we talked about the benefits of camping… today we are going to discuss the drawbacks of camping. Firstly, as you are out in the open in your tent, you are completely at the mercy of the weather and it can turn in an instant. One minute you can all be sat outside all having a good time with a camp fire – when the next minute it will pour down with rain and you have to huddle in your tent to keep warm and dry!

Secondly, how are you meant to blow dry your hair or straighten your hair when you have a very limited electricity? This is no good for girls who need their luxuries to make themselves feel normal in the mornings.

Finally, sleeping is very uncomfortable as you are just lay on the floor and if you pitch your tent in a noisy field you have no chance of getting to sleep because the cow noise will keep you awake!!

Benefits of Camping Holidays

There are many benefits of camping holidays. The most obvious one being that camping is much cheaper than going abroad for your summer holiday. All you would have to buy is your provisions (this is assuming you already have a tent and all the equipment including your sleeping bag). As I am a city girl myself (as opposed to a country girl) I am not the best camper in the world – I like having a comfy warm bed. Nonetheless, camping is a great way to get to know your friends and bond over the camp fire with some warmed up marshmallows and some beer!

Max and Paddy – The Joys of Motor Homes!!

My boyfriend’s parents have recently invested in a motor home. At first I thought this was a funny thing to do as they had sold their static caravan on a lovely campsite in exchange for a moving home.

Although my boyfriend and I poke fun at them – comparing them to Max and Paddy, his parents have made a very savvy and wise purchase. Rather than having to travel to the same place and have the same holiday in a static caravan, the world is now their lobster!! They are free to drive and holiday where ever they like, from France to Scotland – the opportunities are vast! In addition to this, with their motor home and the current climate they are beating the credit crunch! I have a feeling that my boyfriend and I may be asking to borrow it in the future in a bid to save some cash and have a cheap and exciting holiday.

Beach Holidays vs. Skiing Winter Holidays

Beach holidays are the nations favourite. We love nothing more than taking a week out from the hum drum cycle of work, eat, sleep, to take a trip to the sea side and relax.  However, what do you prefer chilling out on a beach with nothing to do or the exact opposite, a winter holiday?

Skiing is very physical, activity based, you do not have any time to sit and read a book as you are constantly up and down the slopes. I have never been skiing, however it is definitely a sport I would like to try. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t give up my yearly beach holiday, relaxing by the pool, to go sliding down a freezing slope.

Holiday with your partner or a group of your friends?

It is often the dilemma of many couples – what if you cannot afford to go on two holidays in the year? You may have to choose to either go holiday with your partner or with your friends.

I am very lucky in the fact that my boyfriend and I went to college together (we weren’t an item at college – he asked me out after university) so we have a tight knit group of friends which we both get along with. Therefore this year after a successful trip to the Algarve last year – we are organising a holiday abroad for 15 of us – destination has yet to be decided.

I have the best of both worlds… I get to go on holiday with my partner and with my friends!

Sunbathing on holiday

When on holiday in a hot country, people like to strengthen the tan tone of their skin to appeal to other people, and for their own self esteem. This can involve lying in the sun’s rays for hours at end. There is a ongoing concern that younger holiday goers are the majority of people whom sunbathe, and that sunbathing for long periods of time can have negative and even disastrous effects on the body.

Villa Holidays.

I caught up with one of my friends last night and found out that they have booked a Holiday villa for a week towards the end of September. I was completely jealous, as I have always wanted to stay in my own private Villa abroad!
Whilst she was describing the luxurious views and the private sun deck and swimming pool it sounded amazing. She is only going away with her partner, which I am sure will be lovely however given the opportunity I think I would love to get away with a group of friends……but that sounds too expensive! Lets hope I can research it well and get a good deal.

Activity holidays!

My friends recently got back from an activity holiday in the Lake District and they have not stopped talking about what a wonderful time they had! Personally when I think of activities like rock climbing, abseiling, and canoeing they sound like hard work and not things I want to be participating in during my holiday! However, apparently my friends were quite sceptical themselves but they have been pleasantly surprised by the experience and how much fun they had. They said they enjoyed confronting their fears and learning new skills within an idyllic environment. It was a real change from any holiday they had ever been on before and they would definitely go back.

Short weekend breaks.

With the pressure of work and family commitments increasing, more people are focusing on trying to get some quality time off more regularly. With cheap flights available from various companies this has never been easier to do. Regardless of what you are looking for sun, sea or even snow! A short break can be a very good idea. It means that you are not away from work or family for too long, yet you still feel like you have had a break from the daily grind! Even if you do not fancy going abroad there are some great places to go across England depending on what you are after from the time off. It is definitely worth looking into.
